Susan Basler is a fiber artist based on a small organic holding, in south Sligo overlooking the Windy Gap along the Ox Mountains. Where many weekends are spent hiking with her bestie Schnucki and her partner John.
Having always had an interest in textiles Susan completed her degree in BA honors in Design in Textiles and after graduating set up her studio in 2014. Also in 2014 Susan along with Suzie Sullivan - textile artist and Victoria Foutz - Jewelry Design set up The Quay Gallery in Westport, Co.Mayo. Here the artists showcase and sell their own work and that of many other talented Irish artists, designers and makers.
Susan's work is inspired by nature and the materials she uses. Having spent some time honing her craft, she has developed her own technique and style. Creating elegant and luxurious hand- felted and dyed Wall Hangings and Accessories embellished with stitching and beads.
